(Original Caption) 4/20/1962-Hollywood, CA: Director Alfred Hitchcock inspects some of the 1,300 finches appearing in one of the scare sequences for his new film "The Birds." The birds, shipped over from Japan, cost Hitch $1.50 per head. Hitchcok's new picture is taken from Daphne Du Mariner's novel which exploits the possibility of birds taking over the world by clawing, pecking and pestering the human race righto out of existence.
