Lightweight champion Jimmy Carter (l) throws a left through the defenses of challenger George Araujo of Providence, RI, during their scheduled 15-rounded at Madison Square Garden. Carter won the title bout on a TKO at two minutes and 16 seconds of the 13th round, as referee Al Berle stopped the fight. Carter weighed 135 pounds for defense of his crown, and Araujo weighed 2 1/2 pounds less.
