A bright moon lights the floor of Death Valley while the stars shine above. We are standing on Dante's View, nearly a mile (1600 meters) above the salt pan at Badwater. The snow dusted peaks of the Panamint Range rise up across the valley. Close by on our right is Dante's Peak.
