Description
Daniel Dancer, Esq. - The Remarkable Miser', 1821. Portrait of notorious English miser and eccentric Daniel Dancer (1716-1794), who owned land and property but wore rags, allegedly warmed his dinner by sitting upon it, and died naked in a sack. To prevent theft, he fastened his door up and got into his house through an upper window via a ladder which he drew up after him. From "Wonderful Characters: Comprising Memoirs and Anecdotes of the Most Remarkable Persons of Every Age and Nation", Vol. II, by Henry Wilson. [J. Robins and Co. Albion Press, London, 1821].
