Late afternoon at Cuicocha crater lake near Cotacachi, northern Ecuador. Taken from the los pinos viewpoint, accessible by a dirt road, from the northwestern cliffs. There is a trail all the way around the crater rim, prone to bad weather almost every day, and mugger gangs less often. Most visitors see the lake at its southeastern shore, below is the photo I took 2 years ago from above the cliffs at the right side of this photo from the opposite side of the lake :
