In what turned out to be a race against time, this was one of just 6 exposures I was able to capture from the peak before my rented camera's battery said good night. Yea, that was a bummer... hardly a good test for the D3S after a cold and windy hike above timberline. But even in the short amount of time I had, I was able to get this shot to show some pretty good color and detail. This 15 second exposure was taken at the top of a peak named Cupid (13,117 feet) after a hike from Loveland Pass, Colorado with friend, Wayne Boland. By the way, the glow you see is definitely not a sunrise or sunset. It comes from light pollution from Denver's city lights some 50 miles away.
