Artist's Description

Chelsea Water-Works, in 1750', (circa 1876). Chelsea Waterworks founded in 1723, created extensive ponds in the borders of Chelsea and Pimlico using water from the tidal Thames, by the 19th century there were complaints about the quality of the water.
