(Original Caption) 7/24/1952-Helsinki, Finland- The Rev. Bob Richards of the US team eases over the bar to set a new record for the Olympics pole vault. Richards made 14 feet, 11.14 inches to surpass previous marks on his final try. Don Laz of Champaign, IL., was second and Ragnar Lundberg of Sweden was third. Richards is from La Verne, CA.
