(Original Caption) 10/3/1946-St. Louis, MO:- Here are the four star players of the St. Louis Cardinals, who won the National League championship today by defeating the Brooklyn Dodgers 8 to 4 in the second game of the 2-out-of-3 playoff series at Ebbets Field, breaking the National League pennant tie. They are (L to R): Whitey Kurowski, Enos Slaughter, Marty Marion and Stan Musial, with their shirt numbers reading 1-9-4-6, indicating that the Cards are the National League champions for this year.
