(Original Caption) Babe Ruth autographs bats and balls for distribution in 28 citizens military training camps...One bat and one ball, each autographed by Babe Ruth himself, has been sent out to the commanding officer of 28 Citizens Military Training Camps. At each camp, the trophies will be awarded to the best batter in the camp. This was done at the personal request of General Pershing. Letters of appreciation are already coming back from the commanding officers of the various camps and the idea is making a big hit with the boys all around the country. Photo shows the mighty swat artist in the act of slinging the pen on the bats and balls.
