(Original Caption) 5/31/1944-France: Twenty-six 100-pound bombs fall in a string from a B-26 maurauder of the U.S. Ninth Air force, during a raid on Nazi installations in France. Allied air offensive prelude to the coming invasion is pounding the Nazi in ever-increasing tempo and, today, 3,200 U.S. bombers and fighters from bases in Italy and Britain, smashed at German communications centers and war industries.
