Avro Lancaster heavy bomber R5689 (VN-N), of No. 50 Squadron RAF, prepares to take-off from RAF Skellingthorpe during World War II, 1942. The aircraft was delivered to 50 Squadron in June 1942, but was destroyed when it crashed on landing at Thurlby, Lincolnshire on 19th September that year. (Photo by Fox Photos/Getty Images)
