Georgia University student Charlayne Hunter holds a small Madonna statue to her lips as she waits to leave the Myers Hall dorm on the campus. The 18-year-old African American student, who made Georgia history when she and another African American youth were admitted to the all white school, left for Atlanta after being temporarily suspended. The dean of students emphasized the suspension was temporary and for the protection of the African American students.
