3/5/1951-Phoenix, AZ:Mickey Mantle,who many experts believe is the greatest prospect to the diamond in a long time,is shown here in batting stance.No less an authority than Casey Stengel,manager of the New York Yankees,said that Mantle is a likely successor to the great Joe DiMaggio.The Yanks were content to nurse Mantle along until DiMaggio dropped that broad hint that he might hang up his spikes at the end of the 1951 season.Now Mantle's schooling may be stepped up.Stengel wants to make the 19-year-old Mantle centerfielder.
