(Original Caption) 10/12/48 Boston, Mass: President Bill Veeck of the Cleveland Indians splits his face in a hearty guffaw as he congratulates Manager Lou Boudreau (right) after his Indians won the World Series Pennant in Boston by trimming the Braves 4-3. The open-mouthed celebrant at left is coach Bill Mackechnie. And it seems that it was only yesterday that Veeck was toying with the idea of firing Boudreau, and would have it the Cleveland fans hadn't reared to their hind legs in revolt.
