Description
UNDATED: Pitcher Mordecai Brown of the St. Louis Cardinals pitches for an action portrait. "Three Fingered" Brown played for the Cards in 1903. As a youth, he lost part of his index finger in a farm-machinery accident, thus the nickname "Three Finger." Brown not only overcame this handicap, but used it to increase the movement of his pitches. (Photo by National Baseball Hall of Fame Library/MLB via Getty Images)
