NEW YORK, N.Y. - DECEMBER 23: American jazz fusion drummer Lenny White poses for a portrait on December 23, 1977. Lenny White has been called "one of the founding fathers of jazz fusion", and is best known as a member of the seminal jazz fusion band Return to Forever led by keyboardist and composer Chick Corea in the 1970s. Notably, Lenny White played drums with legendary jazz composer and saxophonist Jackie Mclean, and has been featured on many landmark jazz recordings including Miles Davis' 1969 album, 'Bitches Brew', and Freddie Hubbard's 1970 recording, 'Red Clay'. A three-time Grammy Awards winner, White continues a successful career as bandleader and as a featured guest artist with jazz and pop legends like bassist Stanley Clarke and vocalist Chaka Khan.
