Artist's Description

1st June 1921: Miss Audrey Croft taking her shot at the Ladies' Open Golf Championship at Turnberry, south Ayrshire Turnberry has two popular links courses, the Ailsa and Arran, and hosted its first Open Championships in 1977. The site was rescued by golf course architect Mackenzie Ross in the 1950s after it had become derelict after being used as an air strip for Allied aircraft during World War II.
