Artist's Description
(Original Caption) Before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, girls reached the limits of their mechanical experience when they operated dial telephones and radio sets. As in this picture, girls may be seen working on power lathes, behind the flames of welding torches and on the work benches inspecting freshly turned steel. They are being paid by the Government to learn the trade and later will take men's jobs as part of National Defense. Henrietta Yasgor, is shown in this photograph, inspecting an armor bolt with a micrometer.
