In Kansas City, Kansas, during a 1954 twirling contest, these kids launched thetops out like "flying saucers." Left to right, the winners were Adrian Knight, Jr., 15, 1st place; John Ryan, 13, 2nd place; Herbe L. Green, 13, 3rd, and Bill Gurwell, 14, 4th.
