9/23/1923-Berlin, Germany-ORIGINAL CAPTION READS: On September 23, a circle of German scientists announced the completion of special apparatus for the making of "speaking" motion pictures. This apparatus is a combination of motion picture camera and a recording device such as is employed in the making of victrola records. The artist during the portrayal of a part, speaks the line as if before an audience. Photo shows the apparatus which receives the song of spoken word. Radio-electrical waves carry the voice or tone.
