Artist's Description
(Original Caption) Illinois man invents new television tube. William L. Cummings of Berwyn, Illinois, who for twenty years had been doing research work and studying photo electirc devices, had invented a new type of electron relay television reproducing light. At present television advancement is handicapped by the smallness of the screen. the neon tube which in in use at the present time had not enough power to enable it to be cast upon a screen. The orange color also resembles a shadow rather than a clear cut image. Cumming's new tube gives a white light which can be cast upon a screen of ground glass. The image in the neon style was inside the tube while the new tube has a point source of light from which the image is projected through a revolving disc and a lens upon the screen giving a larger range of size. this point of light hangs like a ball of fire inside the tube c
