(Original Caption) 1854: Engraving from the Crimean War in 1854, shows Captain William N.W. Hewitt, R.N. before Sevastapol. The Crimean War lasted from 1853-1856 between Russia and the allied powers of Turkey, England, France and Sardina, over a quarrel between France and Russia for guardianship of Palestine holy places.
