Waterworks At York Buildings, Strand metal print by Print Collector. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Waterworks at York Buildings, Strand, supplying water to London from the Thames, 1790. Westminster Bridge can be seen in the background. The waterworks used a Savery steam engine for pumping, but it proved unsuccessful. It was replaced with a Newcomen engine in 1726, but this was discontinued in 1731 as it was too expensive.
