Description
(Original Caption) This odd and interesting structure was the Michigan State Building in the Centennial celebration in Philadelphia in 1876. Built of the finest and hard wood with wood pins and dove tails joints taking the place of the customary nails and screws. It attracted much attention because of it's unique construction. After the Centennial, it was dismantled by Marclay Lippincott and carried by boat to Atlantic City, New Jersey, where it was reassembled on States Avenue. It is shown as it stands today looking the same as it did 50 years ago, save for the fire escapes which lend a modern touch.
