View of the Maxwell Street Market in Chicago, IL, ca.1915. The Maxwell St. neighborhood in Chicago has been a haven for new arrivals since the mid 1800�s. The market became more established as vendors began to set up shop in front of their homes, selling everything from clothes, to tools and household supplies, to food. Of note, the birth of the electric blues in Chicago happened here with most of the early blues stars getting their start playing in and around The Market.
