Description
(Original Caption) Located 1,092 feet above the sidewalks of New York, the world's brightest continuous manmade source of light was tested for the first time this morning. The source was the new beacon system installed atop the Empire State Building at a cost of $250,000. In the photo at left the beacons were caught by the camera as they started revolving at 12:30 a.m. In the photo at right, almost two billion candle power of light is concentrated in one spot as the beacons point north at 1:15 a.m.
