Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world, first built as a Hindu temple in the early 12th century (by the Khmer King Suryavarman II), then reborn as a Buddhist one. Angkor Wat is part of the Angkor World Heritage Site and is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the world (over 2 million visitors per year).
