Artist's Description

(Original Caption) Extension of the late Henry M. Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway to Miami, marked the beginning of the fabulous growth of the city and of other resort communities nearby. This train arrived in Miami April 15, 1896. A few months later the then sleepy fishing village was incorporated as a city.
