(Original Caption) NEW YORK: Trading on the floor of the American Stock Exchange Aug. 16th was at a record pace following President Nixon's announcement, Aug. 15th, of a new economic course for the nation to combat inflation. His plans included a 90-day freeze on wages and prices, tax benefits and what amounted to an unofficial devaluation of the dollar.
