A man being tortured on the Rack - a device which worked by stretching the body to dislocate and separate joints while the suffering victim was interrogated. Woodcut from “Pleasant Hours: A Monthly Journal of Home Reading and Sunday Teaching; Volume III” published the Church of England’s National Society’s Depository, London, in 1863.
