Unable to sell his barren patch of land. Viera sent two of his laborers to dig for water. Failing to find water, they nevertheless, came upon a rich vein of quartz and topaz. March 2nd. In the past nine days, a small army of treasure-hunters has extracted about half a million dollars worth of the semiprecious rock from Vierra's once worthless land. The owner gets 10 per cent of the take and is willing to wait for payment."
