(Original Caption) 9/29/1924-Pendleton, OR- Photo shows three of the prize winners in the first real American beauty contest, held in conjunction with annual Pendleton roundup. They were chosen by Wallace Smith, prominent artist and author, as most representative of Indian beauty. Left to right, they are Minnie Patawa (Blue Meadow) of the Walla Walla tribe; Esther Motanic (White Fawn) of the Cayuse Indian tribe and Melissa Parr (Wood Dove) of the Umatillas.
