'The Latest in Russia Bonds', 1874. Mr Punch, trailing a garland of roses, stands atop a pedestal labelled Hymen. In the foreground, Cupid wears the skin of the Russian Bear as Grand Duchess Marie Alexandrovna of Russia married Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh. The marriage took place at the Winter Palace, St. Petersburg in a ceremony jointly conducted by Greek ecclesiastics and Dean Stanley of the Anglican Church.
