Artist's Description

The Graces Decorating a Terminal Figure of Hymen, 1773, (1911). Barbara Montgomery (1757-1788), Elizabeth Montgomery (1751-1783) and Anne Montgomery (1752-1819) daughters of William Montgomery of Magbiehill (1717-1788), Member of Parliament for Ireland. The three women are shown gathering flowers to decorate a statue of Hymen, the Roman god of marriage. Painting held at the Tate Britain, London.
