The Divorce of Josephine', 1846, (mid 19th century). The French Emperor Napoleon divorced his wife Josephine in 1810 as she had not produced a male heir. Although she had been the love of his life, at the age of 46 it seemed unlikely that she would enable the continuation of the Bonaparte line.
