Artist's Description

(Original Caption) Baseball fans will immediately recognize this face, despite the change in uniforms. Captain Ted Williams gives the thumbs-up, "okay" sign to his mechanic as the Boston Red Sox outfielder prepares to take off on a training flight at the Marine Corps Air Station at Cherry Point. Williams was recalled to active duty in May 1952, and was undergoing a refresher course in attack aviation.
