Description
(Original Caption) The first locomotive stages a comeback...Engine Number 1, of the Southern Pacific Lines, the first steam locomotive used on the S.P. Lines which staged a comeback during the revival of the "Forty Miners" celebration in San Francisco. The Engine was brought around the horn, on a steamer and was the first locomotive west of the Rockies. In it's day it was the classiest thing on rails. Having outlive it's practical usefulness, it has been retired to a place of honor in the Southern Pacific station at Sacramento.
