Artist's Description
Army officers reading the mutiny act to soldiers engaged in a sit in and singing "We Shall Overcome" at the Presidio stockade in San Francisco, California. The soldiers were protesting the killing of another prisoner. After Captain Robert Lamont (L), stockade commander, finished reading the act, 27 soldiers were charged with mutiny and received prison terms up to 15 years.
