A view down Marble Canyon, British Columbia. Marble Canyon in Kootenay National Park, is a deep slot canyon formed by thousands of years of erosion as a river descends from a high, hanging valley into an adjacent, lower valley, cut by a large glacier. The canyon is surrounded by burned snags, the result of a major forest fire season in 2003. You can see the green of small regrowth beneath the burned trees
