Artist's Description

(Original Caption) 12/9/1925-The photo shows V.K. Zworkin distinguished Russian Physicist and member of the Westinghouse Electric Research Staff, who has invented a tube which utilizes the mechanical force of light to control electric current and produce radio signals. By means of this tube colors can be sorted scientifically, the rising sun can be made to start the furnace and start the pot boiling, and fire alarm can be transmitted by electric wire and picture can be transmitted by radio.
