Description
On our recent trip to San Diego, we had an early evening flight out of San Jose airport with clear skies, and as usual, I hogged the window seat and kept my nose and lens pressed to the window. This is the San Luis Reservoir, which marks the start of the vast flat valley, the agricultural heart of California. Directly across the valley are the foothills to the Sierras, and beyond that Yosemite. The topography changes dramatically here, where the rolling hills of the coastal range give way to the flat lands. We've driven it many times, but 4 or 5 hours on highway 5 thru the valley will put you into a coma.... and there are no photo ops like this !
