(Original Caption) New Device Cures Colds Instantly. A new device has been perfected by Professor Bordier of the faculty of medicine at the University of Lyons, France, who claims for his invention the ability to cure colds in a few minutes. The apparatus, operated by electricity, is attached to the patients head, and the nose is strapped to tiny heat conducting plates which fit like spectacles. A high frequency current is applied for a few minutes and this heat penetrates to the tissues of the mucous membranes of the nose. The congestion is immediately relieved and the germs causing the cold are killed by the current which, however, does not injure the tissues. The above photo shows Prof. Bordier demonstrating the appliance.
