(Original Caption) New York Yankees' manager Casey Stengel (right) and Washington Senators' pilot Bucky Harris, always on the lookout for new talent, watch President Eisenhower throw out the first ball to officially open the 1954 baseball season, April 13th. At left are Mrs. Eisenhower and (standing next to her) Clark Griffith, owner of the Senators. Washington beat the Yanks, 5-3, in 10 innings.
