Description
The portion of Perito Moreno Glacier (Glaciar Perito Moreno) facing the northern arm of Lake Argentina (Lago Argentino). The glacier is named after Francisco Moreno (1852-1919), an explorer and scientist in the region. 'Perito' is a title meaning technical specialist or expert. He never actually saw this particular glacier, however.Perito Moreno Glacier is still growing at a rate of around 2 meters per day. The ice at the face has taken roughly 300 years to travel down from the top of the glacier.
