Description
(Original Caption) The birthplace of aviation in Dayton, Ohio, where Wilbur and Orville Wright introduced aviation to the world a quarter of a century ago, was made into the largest flying field in the world, known as the Wilbur Wright Field. The 500 acres of the field was given to the U. S. War Department for Aeronautical purposes by Dayton citizens. Although many men of affairs were at the dedication, the rain kept them in the Field Assembly Hall. This photo shows left to right; Orville Wright; Secretary of War, Dwight Davis; Commissioner of Baseball, Landis; Assistant of Secretary of War, F. Trubee Davison, and Major General Mason M. Patrick, the Head of the army Air Corps.
