Description
Nurses examining medical sample in laboratory. Lincoln Hospital offered a two-year training program for laboratory and radiology technicians beginning in 1950. Mrs. Margaret Kennedy Goodwin established the program and accepted two students every six months. In all her years of teaching, Mrs. Goodwin never had a student fail their licensing examinations. During an era when most hospitals refused to admit African Americans into allied health professions training programs, Lincoln Hospital offered tangible avenues for professional advancement.
