Artist's Description

Not all the gold, that is beneath the moon or ever hath been, of these toil-worn souls Might purchase rest for one', circa 1890. The damned struggling to push heavy weights uphill. This long, narrative poem, written in Italian circa 1308-1321, tracing Dante's imaginary journey from Hell, through Purgatory and finally to Heaven and a beatific vision of God, has been published numerous times.
