Artist's Description

(Original Caption) 9/16/51-New York: The Yankees, in a hard fight for the pennant, were visited by a couple of fighters in the dressing room after their important 5-1 victory over the Indians at the Yankee Stadium Sept. 16. Both Sugar Ray Robinson (left), who recently won back middleweight crown; and former heavyweight champion Joe Louis (right) witnessed the game, which the Yanks won to lead the Indians by percentage points. The ball players are (left to right) catcher Yogi Berrra; Allie Reynolds, who pitched a sparkling game for his 15th victory, and outfielder Joe DiMaggio. Berra and DiMaggio socked triples to knock in runs.
