(Original Caption) The U.S. Navy Curtiss NC-4 completes the first flying trip across the Atlantic, eight years before Charles Lindbergh. The flying boat covered 3,925 miles, puddle-jumping from Rockaway, N.Y., to Newfoundland, to the Azores and finally to Lisbon on May 27, 1919. Crew of six was in command of Lt. Commander Albert C. Read (inset).
